Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was a theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity. In 1905 Einstein published four papers. One of them introduced the theory of special relativity, which rests on the principle that the laws of physics are the same for all observers moving at a constant speed. Ten years later the general theory of relativity described gravity as the curvature of space and time. Einstein's ideas continue to affect modern physics, and the principles he stated are still taught today.
